United are certainly not messing around in this transfer window…
In the past few years, well, to be more specific, since 2006, United have not really spent that much in the transfer windows to invest in players for the squad. We’ve not really needed to, to be fair, but Sir Alex and co. have received much criticism because of that – investment is always necessary to move forward, and of course, the hypocritical quote from David Gill himself: ‘Debt is the road to ruin’ and with no investment, that’s certainly where the club will go.This summer, however – it’s been much different to previous years. With the retirement of Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Edwin van der Sar – the club’s finances have increased a hell of a lot due to the fact the wage budget has been lowered with their contracts expiring.
Apparently we have approximately £160 million in the kitty – obviously less since we have signed Phil Jones, David De Gea (De Heya – learn to pronounce it we don’t want any more pronunciations like Chicharito STILL receives!) and, of course Ashley Young. We seem to be getting things done early this summer too. In previous years we have left it rather late in the transfer window to sign some players, Dimitar Berbtatov being an example of that after being signed around midnight on transfer deadline day.
Jones, Young and De Gea have been confirmed, however the transfer window hasn’t even opened officially yet, the date is July 1st. David Gill is going on holiday at the end of this week, and he wants every deal confirmed and completed ideally before he goes away, and it certainly looks like business is coming to an end for United, before the window even opens!
We’re heavily linked with Nasri and many others currently, and it looks highly likely that we’re going to launch an emphatic bid for the unsettled French star. Several inside sources at United’s chosen medical center for fitness tests state that there is 2 appointments for medical tests made by Manchester United THIS WEEK. One of them, supposedly at 12 noons tomorrow (Thursday) – rumors on Twitter recon that’s Luka Modric, but we’ll see. Highly unlikely.
One thing I will say is, I admire the way we are doing business in such a swift manner. Sir Alex obviously has players in mind and is just going all out to get them regardless of price and other teams linked with the player. I said before that our business may have been concluded with the 3 signings currently made by Sir Alex, but I may have been wrong… Watch this space.
